The Sirven Project is located in the central-north region of the Santa Cruz province, in the San Jorge Gulf basin. According to the Uranium Deposit Classification (UDEPO) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Sirven corresponds to the superficial geological model. 124 deposits of this type have been reported around the world, which are generally of medium size, less than 10,000 tons of uranium (tU), and with grades in the range of 600-800 ppm U. Sirven can be defined as a young deposit (Tertiary-Recent), with uranium concentrations near the surface located in sediments and soils. The mineralized levels, consisting mainly of sulfates and carbonates with carnotite, are between 30 and 50 centimeters thick and are at depths between 20 centimeters and 3 meters. The project has 5,700 tU and 14,500 tV of estimated potential resources, for average grades of 100 ppm U and 300 ppm V. The mentioned tonnages would allow a sustainable production of 200-300 tU/year, which would be sufficient to cover the foreseeable nuclear supply needs for the short and medium term in Argentina.
